Yearning - a feeling of intense longing for something.

Psalm 84:1-2 NIV How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Psalms 63:1 NIV You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

David is in the wilderness hiding from King Saul who is seeking to kill him. David alone LONELY! He begins to PRAY! He is YEARNING for the Presence of GOD!

David is on the Run! He is wondering around in the wilderness. He was wondering, speculating, doubting, questioning…. Is God here? He was yearning for God!
